PML-N’s Multan candidate terms slapping scene a ‘misunderstanding’

A Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz candidate from the Punjab Assembly’s constituency PP-219 has alleged that he was tortured by the personnel of a secret agency over his refusal to withdraw from the upcoming election as PML-N candidate.
Talking to the media men, Rana Iqbal Siraj said he was being asked to come to the local office of the agency which he was avoiding.
“I was asked not to contest the election on the PML-N ticket,” he claimed.
He said a raid was conducted on his godown of fertiliser after he was threatened to face the consequences. “They said they will destroy my business and harm my family.”
Rana Siraj alleged that he was slapped several times during the raid on his godown.
He said he was loyal to the country and his only fault was that he was going to contest election on a PML-N ticket. Later,he denied his own utterance against a secret agency and said that a team of agriculture department raided his fertilizer godowns and searched the stock. No one torture or slap him. In a video obtained by Southj Punjab News, the candidate explained that “the slap was a result of a misunderstanding".
Reacting to the incident, PML-N supreme leader Nawaz Sharif said any attempt to rig the upcoming elections will be detrimental to the country. "We haven’t learnt any lesson from past mistakes," Nawaz told reporters in London. "All cannons have been pointed at the PML-N."
Without elaborating further, he alleged that his party's electoral candidates were being harassed and threatened.
"Our candidate in Multan Rana Iqbal Siraj was slapped and warned of dire consequences," the former premier said, lamenting that their candidates were being humiliated.
"Such steps would be detrimental to the country," he said. Nawaz urged the caretaker prime minister and the chief election commissioner to take notice of threats being hurled to the PML-N candidates. Meanwhile, PML-N candidate Rana Iqbal Siraj said that the incident that was quoted by the media was the result of a misconception.
