Javed Hashmi & other PML-N leaders barred from meeting Nawaz

A number of PML-N politicians – including Javed Hashmi, Marriyum Aurangzeb and Tariq Fazal Chaudhry – who went to meet the jailed Sharif family members on Monday were denied permission by the jail authorities.
The personal physician of Nawaz, Doctor Adnan, was also not allowed to meet him. The doctor said that it was important that he himself examine the former PM and give him necessary medicine.
Jail administration did not cite any reason for denying permission for meeting to PML-N leaders and the doctor.
Speaking to media persons outside the jail, veteran politician Javed Hashmi lamented that he was not allowed to meet with Nawaz Sharif who had been elected as prime minster thrice by the people of Pakistan.
“The real convict is Pervez Musharraf who has abrogated the country’s constitution,” he said.
Holding bouquets and party flags in their hands, former federal minister Marriyum Aurangzeb and many other women leaders and workers of N League also arrived at Adiala Jail to meet with Nawaz and Maryam, but they too were not allowed to meet their detained leaders.
Talking to media Marriyum said that PML-N would not accept injustice being committed with the imprisoned members of Sharif family – Nawaz Sharif, his daughter Maryam Nawaz and son-in-law Capt (r) Safdar.
She said people of Pakistan would come out in big numbers on July 25 and stamp on tiger (election symbol of PML-N) to express their love and respect with Nawaz Sharif.
Earlier, PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif and his family met with the jailed members of their family at the Adiala Jail on Saturday evening.
Nawaz and Maryam were airlifted to Adiala after their arrival in Pakistan on Friday. They were sentenced to 10 years and seven years imprisonment in Avenfield case.
Capt Safdar, who was sentenced to one year in jail in the same case, had already courted in arrest and been imprisoned at the same facility.
“The ballot boxes of PTI will be empty on election day as people have rejected politics of Imran Khan who now days is addressing empty chairs,” said Marriyum Aurangzeb while talking to media.
She said that former PM Mian Nawaz Sharif and his daughter Maryam Nawaz are being victimised by unseen forces for a crime they never committed.
She said that Mian Nawaz Sharif is being punished for refusing dictation from ‘aliens’.
She said that Nawaz Sharif and Maryam Nawaz are out on a mission to give respect to vote and voters. She said that PML-N would not let anybody to repeat the 70 years old history and now the people of Pakistan would rule the country by electing their true representatives with power of ballot papers.
“People of Pakistan have rejected the politics of Imran Khan,” she added, claiming the ‘tigers’ and ‘tigresses’ would appear from each and every house of Pakistan on polling day to elect the PML-N.
She said that she along with other female leaders and workers arrived in Adiala Jail to express their solidarity with the detained leadership of N League.
“Mian Nawaz Sharif and Mian Shehbaz Sharif will win on July 25 with a massive majority,” she added.
She declared Imran Khan a greater risk for the security and stability of Pakistan.
Earlier, Maryam Aurangzeb reached the Adiala Jail in shape of a rally, which was also participated by ex-MPs Begum Tahira Aurangzeb, Tehsin Fawad, Zeb un Nisa Awan, Seema Jilani and Rawalpindi Mayor Sardar Nasim.
Hashmi’s take
Makhdoom Javed Hashmi registered his protest against the jail administration when he was he was not allowed to meet Nawaz and his daughter.

He, while talking to the media, said that the three times prime minister was targeted and he was convicted for a crime he never committed. Hashmi said that all the prime ministers of Pakistan met the same fate in the past – either they had been sent to jail or sent into exile.

“The dictators who abrogated the constitution enjoyed luxurious lives in and outside the country. The time has come that people see the difference and ask question about this indifference attitude,” he said.

The PML-N leader said that he knew the jail procedure as he spent many years in the jail especially in the Adiala Jail.

“I meet people in Adiala jail five days a week but the ban imposed on the meetings with Nawaz Sharif is condemnable,” he said.

“Mian Sahib and Shehbaz Sharif [have] asked the workers to pay attention on elections as it will be a revenge for their miseries,” he said and added that election candidates should run their campaign more effectively.

While terming the welcome rally of July 13 for Nawaz Sharif historic, Hashmi said that he did not see such a huge gathering of people in his entire political life despite all odds. “All the roads were closed by containers and deployment of law enforcement agencies but people came out from their homes to welcome Nawaz Sharif,” he said.

He said that Musharraf would not be convicted in any case as the rules for civilian and dictators are different. “If the cases had been registered against the civilian ruler then the decision would be made immediately,” he said.
