Army asks SC to 'take action' against IHC judge's allegations. CJP called record from PEMRA

Chief Justice of Pakistan takes serious notice of speech of Justice Shaukat Azia Siddiqui and has called complete record from Pemra on Sunday.

According to a statement issued by the Supreme Court of Pakistan, honourable Chief Justice of Pakistan, Justice Mian Saqib Nisar has taken serious notice of a speech delivered by Justice Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui Judge Islamabad High Court at Rawalpindi Bar Association alleging interference of intelligence agencies of the country in Judicial matters.
Chief Justice taking the notice of the matter called for the complete record of the speech from Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA), the statement further read.
In the response of Islamabad High Cout judge (IHC), Justice Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui yesterday's allegations on the state's institutions, ISPR has requested the Supreme Court to initiate a proper inquiry against this on Sunday.

A press release issued by Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) stated an honourable judge of Islamabad High Court has levelled the serious allegation against the state institutions including the judiciary and the premier state intelligence agency.
The Director-General ISPR Asif Ghafoor has requested the Supreme Court of Pakistan to initiate the appropriate process to ascertain the veracity of the accusations.

It is the matter of safeguard the sanity and credibility of the state institutions, therefore Supreme Court of Pakistan should take appropriate measure to ensure the authenticity of the claims and take action accordingly, the statement further read.
On Saturday, Islamabad High Court (IHC) judge, Justice Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui has claimed that an agency approached the IHC Chief Justice Muhammad Anwar Khan Kasi to ensure that former prime minister Nawaz Sharif and his daughter Maryam Nawaz remain in jail till the elections.
While addressing at the Rawalpindi Bar Association, Justice Shaukat said that the agency, which contacted the IHC judge, “did not want Nawaz Sharif and his daughter out of the prison until after the elections.” So the agency asked the IHC chief justice to “not include Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui on the bench that would hear Sharifs’ appeals.”
The IHC judge also stated that the judiciary is equally responsible for the current prevailing situation in the country. Justice Shaukat said, “The judiciary and institutions are equally responsible for the situation in the country.
