Principal arrested over 'extreme ragging' of students at Cadet College Mastung

Balochistan High Court Chief Justice Muhammad Noor Meskanzai on Tuesday expressed resentment over the extreme ragging of junior students at the hands of senior students at Cadet College Mastung and ordered immediate arrest of the people involved.


An astonishing video went viral on social media on Monday showing some senior students torturing junior students at the college, which sparked country-wide rage.
A two-member bench, headed by Chief Justice Meskanzai, hearing the case, ordered immediate arrest of the college staff and students involved in the ragging.
Principal Secretary to Balochistan Governor Sajjad Bhutta, Regional Police Officer (RPO) Aitzaz Goraya, Advocate General Balochistan Rauf Atta Advocate and educational staff were present during the hearing.
RPO Goraya apprised the court that Cadet College Mastung Principal Javed Iqbal Bangash had been arrested, while raids were being conducted for the arrest of students, who beat up their juniors, adding that medico-legal report of the students tortured had been completed.
The chief justice replied, “Parents of all students studying in the Cadet College Mastung are suffering from severe trauma after the incident. Other students will be reluctant to study in the college.”
Justice Meskanzai directed the police to book all culprits involved in torturing students and submit the inquiry report in court.
Meskanzai directed the governor’s principal secretary to look into the administrative side of the incident and the police to handle the criminal side.
The court adjourned the hearing till Wednesday.
Following the incident, Balochistan Governor Muhammad Khan Achakzai dismissed Principal Bangash while Major (retd) Saffar Khan Mengal has been appointed in his place.
On Monday night, Balochistan Chief Minister Abdul Quddus Bizenjo took notice of the incident and directed the education department to form a three-member committee to probe the episode.
On Tuesday morning, police arrested Principal Bangash and produced him before the Judicial Magistrate Mastung. Non-bailable arrest warrants against all those who can be seen in the video recorded on May 9, 2018.
Further, Balochistan High Court Bar Association President Shah Muhammad Jatoi filed a petition against the incident and demanded full inquiry into the incident.
