Gujranwala Deputy Commissioner found dead at residence

Deputy Commissioner of Gujranwala Sohail Tipu was found dead from his home on Thursday.


Initial investigation reports suggest suicide as the cause of death, however, this hasn’t been confirmed yet. His body was found hanging from a fan in his residence in Gujranwala where he lived alone. According to South Punjab News, Tipu had been undergoing tension and stress in the last couple of days.
However, the body was found with hands tied from the back which has caught the attention of the police. The investigation is underway and police personnel have entered the residence.
Tipu has three daughters and one son, all of them live in Lahore. He was appointed deputy commissioner on December 11, 2017. Before serving in Gujranwala, he served at the Chief Minister’s Secretariat. He is originally from Sargodha.
“Upon commissioner’s request when we reached the DC house, we found the body hanging from the fan,” said the AMS, adding that the commissioner has been informed about the legalities of the post-mortem.
The DSP told Geo News that Sohail Ahmed was residing with his parents.
Tipu, who was appointed as deputy commissioner on December 11, 2017, has three daughters and son, who reside in Lahore.
