Ginneries receive 114m bales of cotton, 8,29,485 bales in unsold stock

MULTAN, Feb 18 : Over 11.485 million bales of cotton have arrived in 2017-18 season at various ginneries in Pakistan, as on February 15, 2018, up 7.49 per cent over arrival of 10.685 million bales during the corresponding period of last season, according to the latest fortnightly report on cotton arrivals, released by Pakistan Cotton Ginners’ Association (PCGA).In the major cotton producing province of Punjab, total cotton arrivals increased by 4.84 per cent year-on-year to 72,33,327 bales, according to the report prepared by PCGA, in joint cooperation with All Pakistan Textile Mills Association (APTMA) and the Karachi Cotton Association (KCA). While in Sindh province, cotton arrivals increased 12.32 per cent to 4.252 million bales as on January 31st during the ongoing cotton season 2017-18. Of the total arrival of 11.485 million bales at various ginneries in Pakistan, 11.485 million bales were pressed by ginners, of which 10.65 million bales were sold, leaving an unsold stock of 8,29,485 bales with the ginners, as on February 15, according to the data.The textile mills in Pakistan consumed 1,04,39,641 million bales, while another 2,16,615 bales of cotton were sold to exporters, according to the data. Pakistan Cotton Ginners Association (PCGA) Chairman Haji Muhammad Akram told mediamen that  Seed cotton (Phutti) equivalent to over 1,14,85,741 bales of cotton  have reached ginneries across Pakistan ,showing an increase of 7.49 per cent compared to corresponding period last year when ginneries received 1,06,85,254  bales. According to the 11th  fortnightly report. Ginneries in Punjab recorded arrival of  72,33,327 bales against the last year arrival of 68,99,312  bales showing an  increase of merely 4.84 per cent. Sindh ginneries recorded arrival of 42,52,414  bales while last  year Sindh received 37,85,942  bales 12.32% more .Textile mills have bought 1,04,39,641  bales while exporters bought 2,16,615  bales. The total bales  sold out so far were calculated at 1,06,56,256  bales. While 8,29,485 bales are lying unsold  because some ginners are waiting for higher prices of cotton in Market.Multan received 2,83,112  bales 3.97 %  decrease than last year, Lodhran 1,70,180 bales 12.14  % decrease, Khanewal 7,05,031 bales an increase of  21.39  %, Muzaffargarh 3,66,656  bales an increase of 11.45 %, Dera Ghazi Khan 4,37,628   an increase of 26.83 %, Rajanpur 4,47,755 bales, 34.18 % increase,Layyah 2,94,142  bales 5.86.% increase, Vehari 5,85,376 bales  52.38  % increase, Sahiwal 2,74,869  bales 27.38  % more than last year, Pakpattan 39,130 bales 6.52 % decrease, Okara 15,775 bales- 17.35 % short, Toba Tek Singh 1,77,043 bales, 9.22 % increase , Faisalabad 38,339  bales 0.33 % less than  last year, Jhang 21,328 showing a decrease of 29.83 %, Mianwali 2,06,265  a decrease of 24.94 % , Bhakkar 85,097 (35.88 % more) Sargodha 7,293 (25.94 % decrease), Rahimyar Khan 10,70,885  bales (7.38  % decrease), Bahawalpur  10,06,921  an increase of 2.89 %,and Bahawalnagar 10,00,520 bales ,a decrease of 17.96  %.  In Sindh province: Hyderabad 2,52,307  bales 10.64 % more than last year,Mirpur Khas (Thar) 2,21,367  bales 18.20 % less, Sangarh ,13,82,937  bales  12.56 % increase, Nawabshah 3,48,299  bales (5.92 % increase), Naushero Feroze 3,75,311 bales (9.92% increase), Khairpur 3,37,518 (16.49 % increase) Ghotki 3,84,583 (28.29 % increase),Sukkur , 6,16,766 (16.31 % increase), Dadu 69,182  (54.77  % increase), Jamshoro 1,30,110 bales (17.85 % more) ,Badeen 17,335 bales 35.86 % less) and Baluchistan 1,16,700 bales (an increase of 52.45%). Total 87 ginning factories are operational in the country.Of them 74 in Punjab and 13 in Sindh.Total 8,29,485 bales are lying in unsold stock.
