PCGA figures show 19,51,607 cotton bales are lying unsold

MULTAN,Nov 3rd : Pakistan Cotton Ginners Association (PCGA) has issued the figures of cotton arrival upto Nov.Ist,2017. Seed cotton (Phutti) equivalent to over 81,34,404 bales of cotton  have reached ginneries across Pakistan as of November 1st,2017,showing an increase of 17.07 per cent compared to corresponding period last year when ginneries received 69,48,381  bales. According to the 4th  fortnightly report of Pakistan Cotton Ginners Association (PCGA) issued here today,Chairman of PCGA Haji Muhammad Akram,Ex- Chairmen Shehzad Ali Khan briefed the media men about cotton production and said that  out of the total arrivals, 8.13 million bales of cotton have been converted into bales so far. Ginneries in Punjab recorded arrival of  46,58,280 bales against the last year arrival of 39,22,050 bales showing an  increase of 18.77 per cent. Sindh ginneries recorded arrival of 34,76,124  bales while last  year Sindh received 30,26,331  bales merely 14.86 % more . Ginneries in Sindh recorded an increase of 14.86 % as compared to corresponding period last year.Textile mills have bought 59,84,498 bales while exporters bought 1,98,299 bales. The total bales  sold out so far were calculated at 61,82,797 bales. While 19,51,607  bales are lying unsold .Multan received 1,94,209 bales 9,29%  increase than last year, Lodhran 97,562 bales 3.90   % increase, Khanewal 5,13,133  bales 23.40  %, Muzaffargarh 2,14,597 bales a decrease of 0.17 %, Dera Ghazi Khan 2,72,521  an increase of 39.65 %, Rajanpur 3,27,597  bales, 37.68 % increase,Layyah 1,85,090  bales  10.08.% increase, Vehari 4,45,423 bales  72.37  % increase, Sahiwal 1,92,923 bales 21.19 % more than last year, Pakpattan 32,359 bales 8.07 % decrease, Okara 14,550 bales- 13.94 % short, Toba Tek Singh 1,24,987  bales, 0.83 % more, Faisalabad 31,254 bales 11.30 % more last year, Jhang 19,250 showing a decrease of 28.46%, Mianwali 1,16,140  a decrease of 22.43 % , Bhakkar 59,296 (15.88 % more) Sargodha 4,910 (16.85 % more), Rahimyar Khan 5,90,048 bales (16.85 % increase), Bahawalpur  6,74,614  an increase of 31.67 %,and Bahawalnagar 5,47,815  an increase of 2.29  %.  In Sindh province: Hyderabad 2,34,657  bales 12.20 % more than last year,Mirpur Khas (Thar) 2,06,157 bales 16.84 % less, Sangarh ,13,24,156  bales  16.91 % increase, Nawabshah 3,15,827 bales (10.02 % increase), Naushero Feroze 2,90,955  bales (14.95 % increase), Khairpur 2,56,518 (27.21 % increase) Ghotki 1,83,904  (25.15 % increase),Sukkur 4,04,400 (20.22% increase), Dadu 23,818 -(1.10 % short, Jamshoro 1,24,673  bales (26.98 % less) ,Badeen 17,304 bales 27.79 % less) and Baluchistan 93,755 bales (an increase of 60.84 %). Total 1017 ginning factories are operational in the country.Of them 723 in Punjab and 294 in Sindh.Total 19,51,607  bales are lying in unsold stock.
