High Voltage in Lutfabad causing huge losses,one killed, six scorched

MULTAN, Oct 29th: Panic spread in Luftabad and adjoining localities when every home  gripped with high voltage and residents were receiving electric shocks .They came out of their homes to save their lives. Inspite of take safety measures, six persons injured and a woman lost her baby.Similarly, a worker serving in Saudi Arabia Muhammad Iqbal Hinjra (25) son of Ghulam Mustafa was electrocuted  who came back to home some day ago. Niaz Bibi wife of deceased Muhammad Iqbal suffered miscarriage.She is a mother three children.The affectees have refuted the claim of MEPCO and described it a concocted story to save the skin of the Officers and officials responsible for this tragedy.MEPCO authorities say that a bird hit 11-kv transmission line in Lutfabad area  at a private Tubewell. Consequently ,entire transmission system was badly hit in Bosan road sub-division causing  destruction of a nearby transformer and electronic apparatus and other good mostly refrigerators, Televisions, water-pumps of more than 200 consumers. According to  rough estimate , electronic goods  worth Rs.one million were destroyed. Affectees staged a demonstration against MEPCO authorites for carelessness. They say that there would have been less losses Had the power supply was suspended immediately on receiving complaint. Many people faced with highvoltage electrotrauma .They demanded compensation for affectees and financial assistance of Rs.2 million for the deceased family.
