Petrol, diesel prices to go up by Rs2 from October 1

The government has decided to increase prices of all petroleum products effective from October 1, in a bid to keep them in line with global oil prices.

Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi considered the proposal and then decided to increase the prices of high-speed diesel (HSD), MS 92 RON petrol and light diesel oil (LDO) by Rs2 per litre each, and kerosene oil by Rs4 per litre.
As a result, the new price of MS 92 RON petrol will be Rs73.50 per litre, HSD will be sold at Rs79.40, LDO at Rs46 and kerosene oil at Rs48 per litre.
According to a statement issued by the finance ministry, on the basis of the prevailing prices in the international market, the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) had sent recommended price increases to the government earlier this week.
In its summary sent to the Ministry of Energy, Ogra had proposed an increase of Rs2.35 per litre in the price of petrol, Rs2.17 in the HSD, Rs19.32 in kerosene oil (superior) and Rs14.09 per litre in price of light diesel oil (LDO).
The government had made no change in the prices of kerosene oil and LDO for the past several months.
