Saraiki Nationalists parties on Thursday observed the black day to condemn the invasion of a sikh invader Maharaja Ranjit Singh on Multan on June 2nd,1818 and massacre of people of Multan including then ruler Nawab Muzaffar Khan Saddozai and his family.Saraiki Parties i.e Pakistan Saraiki Party, Seraikistan Democratic Party, People's Saraki Party , Saraiki Qaumi Council, Saraikistan Awami Ittehad, Saraiki National Party,Saraiki Sooba Movement, Saraikistan Qaumi Movement, Saraiki National Congress staged demonstrations in front of mausoleum of Nawab Muzaffar Khan after laying the wreath on his grave.
They burnt the effigy of Sikh ruler Ranjit Singh.Saraiki Leaders , Muhammad Akbar Ansari Advocate,Malik Javed Channer Advocate,Ahmed Nawaz Somroo of Saraiki Party, Rana Muhammad Faraz Noon, Syed Mehdi-ul-Hassan Shah Syed Matloob Bukhari, Syeda Abida Bukhari of Saraikistan Democratic Party,Malik Zul- Naurain Bhutta of People's Saraiki Party,Saraiki intellectual Zahoor Dherija,Chief of Saraiki Qaumi Council Muzaffar Hussain Khan Magassi,Saraiki leader Mansoor Kareem Siyal, PONM's G.R.Gurmani took part in the protest. At the east bank of river Chenab city of Multan has historically boasted itself as the commercial and business centre of sub continent between the Deebal and Lahore. The east Bank’s largest city, it dates back some 4,500 years.It is known for its white gold (cotton) and sweetness and fragrance of mangoes However, Multan’s economy, cultural heritage, and population had come under attack when Ranjit singh invaded this area. Its Old City walls have acquired a new layer of history in the political graffiti and martyr posters honoring the scores of mostly young men from Multan. Despite all that it has suffered in the past four years, the impressive Old City of Multan still clings on to any remaining magnificence it can. its sites of antiquity are not being properly preserved and maintained. Garbage is littered over the remains of a city long forgotten; its ancient arches now sprouting vegetation and its former majesty now dwarfed by the nearby houses.
