CTD has foiled an attempted attack on a shrine of Uch Sharif in district Bahawalpur

The Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) has foiled an attempted attack on a shrine in district Bahawalpur’s Uch Sharif, said a statement released by the CTD.
The statement added that Bahawalpur’s CTD team, acting on credible intelligence, arrested three terrorists affiliated with the banned Lashkar-i-Jhangvi (LeJ).
The arrested suspects were name as Javed, Maulvi Asif and Maqsood Ahmad in the CTD statement.
Two Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) and two kilograms of explosives were recovered from their possession.
The three suspects were arrested from the village of Makhdoom Pur, Uch Sharif in Bahawalpur. A case against them was registered at the CTD police station.
Further investigation is underway, added the statement.
Last year, Malik Ishaq, chief of Lashkar-i-Jhangvi, his two sons Usman and Haq Nawaz, and 11 attackers were killed in an alleged exchange of fire with police personnel.
