MULTAN, May19th: Law enforcement agencies thwarted a terrorism plot to attack Bahauddin Zakariya University late night on Wednesday. Eight terrorists including those involved in the killing of an intelligence officer and the master mind of Rawalpindi’s Parade Lane blast were shot dead while six managed to escape during an operation conducted by the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) and the Intelligence department in Multan.According to CTD sources, action was conducted by CTD on a tip-off by the intelligence department, at the eastern bank of Chenab River. An officer told that Al-Qaeda Commander Muneeb Javed alias Qandhari, and Tayyab Nawaz alias Hafiz Abdul Mateen reached at Multan alongwith their two accomplices Muneeb Razzaqalias Abdul Rehman and Zeeshan alias Abu-Daujana were plotting to attack BZU campus and other important places in Multan. Ten other people joined them from Multan. As the Law enforcing agencies encircled them they started firing and hurled hand grenades and launched a rocket However,LEA retaliated in same coins .Consequently eight terrorists were killedand six managed to runaway taking advantage of darkness. Police said that Al-Qaeda Commander Muneeb Javed alias Qandhari, and Tayyab Nawaz alias Hafiz Abdul Mateen were involved in targetting Brig:Fazal Qadri in Sargodha.Tayyab alias Abdul Mateen was a master mind of Parade lane attack and founder of Al-Qaeda in Pakistan. The bodiesof terrorists were kept in morgue of NIshtar Hospital Multan. Medical Superintendent of Nishtar Hospital Dr.Ashiq Malik confirmed that eight bodies of alleged terrorists were received. Of them only three were identified so far. The terrorists were planning to target the university of Multan. Those killed include Tayyab alias Abdul Mateen, Muneeb, Razzaq alias Abdur Rehman,Zeeshan alias Abudu Jana .A suicide jacket, 2 rifles, 3 Hand grenades and 2 pistols were recovered from the killed terrorists.Meanwhile a hunt is underway for those that fled the scene.
