One killed,100 injured in scuffles,firing and clashes between rival groups in the third phase of LB poll

MULTAN,Dec 5th: One activist of PTI was killed in Bahawalpur and more than 100 injured in Multan due to clash between different candidates however Rangers and army controlled the situation.  Activists of different political parties lock horns in various Union councils of Multan district. Former Prime Minister Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani cast his vote in Hamidpur Kanora, Makhdoom Javed Hashmi in Makhdoom Rashid ,former Punjab Governor Malik Ghulam Mustafa Khar in Khar Gharbi(Muzaffargarh) However Governor Punjab Malik Rafiq Rajwana could not cast his vote in  third and final phase of Local Bodies (LB) elections.A candidate of General Councillor Abdullah complained that election commission has allotted him the symbol of arrow instead of lion. A candidate whose nomination papers were rejected because of being underage but his name was found on the ballot paper. Polling remained suspended for one hour in Timber Market. However overall turnout was more than 50 % At least 10 people sustained injuries when activists of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz and Independent candidate came face-to-face in Union Council 54 (Multan) . The activists of both the parties freely used club and sticksArmy was called in to control the situation at a Government Boys school polling station of Rojhan Ward-5 in Rajanpur, where clash erupted between the political works of two parties.Exchange of hot words also took place between supports of PML-N and independent candidate in Bahawalpur. Police reached and controlled the situation.Similarly, supporters of PML-N and independent candidate clashed with each other in UC-1 and Ward 5 in Multan. At least eight motorcycles were damaged in the clash.Also, polling was stopped at polling station No. 8 of Union Council 93, Multan after female supporters of PML-N and People’s Party came face-to-face.PML-N and PTI workers also clashed in Layyah, where DCO called in Army to control the situation.
