Anti-Terrorism Court Judge Khalid Arshad on Saturday sentenced a man he convicted of hate speeche and distributing banned literature to eight years imprisonment and fined him Rs500,000.
Prosecution said Tanveer Salman used to make speeches in public transport. They said some passengers had made a video of him and reported him to the police.Tanvir Suleman (25)a resident of Deepalpur(Okara) was also fined Rs.0.5 million for posting hate material.An official of the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) told , requesting anonymity.
Court official told that Tanvir Suleman had uploaded many hate speeces on his mobile phone and social media. He was playing these speeches on his cell phone during a travel in a bus towards Bahawalpur."The accused has been convicted and fined Rs5,0,000 for his offense," added Court official.He was arrested on the complaint of some passengers who listened these hate speeches
They said police had found banned literature in his possession when they arrested him. They said police had also recovered pictures and CDs with information on banned outfits.
Separately, Judge Khalid Arshad sentenced a man he convicted of attacking three women with acid to 52 years imprisonment and fined him Rs400,000.
Prosecution said Akbar Ali had attacked Shameem Akhtar and her relatives with acid after an argument. They said all four women had been injured in the incident.
In Sargodha, Additional District and Sessions Judge Yar Muhammad awarded death sentence to a man he convicted of murder. Prosecution said Muhammad Ramazan, Dost Muhammad and Gulzar had shot dead Sajid Kumhar over an old rivalry.
After hearing arguments and examining evidence, the court awarded death sentence to Muhammad Ramazan. The others were acquitted
