A fire broke out at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Delhi on Thursday. Ten fire tenders rushed to the spot to contain the spread. The fire broke out at the Mother and Child Block of AIIMS.
The Delhi Fire Service has said that no casualties have been reported so far. AIIMS officials have confirmed the reports of the fire, stating that it did not cause any fatalities; however, the authorities have not yet issued an official release regarding the incident.
Patients and staff were safely evacuated from the affected area, and routine medical operations have been maintained or resumed where possible. While the blaze damaged certain sections, fire tenders are working to contain the spread and ensure minimal damage.
The incident comes just a month after a blaze broke out at the Trauma Centre of AIIMS Delhi on July 3. At that time, five fire tenders had rushed to the location to contain the fire
Fire officials had told news agency PTI that the July 3 blaze occurred after a transformer at the AIIMS Trauma Centre caught fire. No injuries were reported then.
“We would like to inform you that there was no fire at JPNATC, AIIMS Delhi. A fire incident occurred at an NDMC transformer located within the JPNATC complex, which was brought under control.”
