Mianwali police and the Counterterrorism Department (CTD) conducted a successful operation against Khwarij terrorists in Malakwal on Monday.
The Punjab police spokesperson said more than 10 terrorists were gunned down during the operation, and there were reports of more terrorists being injured.
A local resident was shot in the leg due to the terrorists’ gunfire and shifted to hospital. The operation against Khwarij terrorists is ongoing under the supervision of Regional Police Officer Sargodha Shahzad Asif Khan and DPO Mianwali Akhtar Farooq.
IG Punjab Dr Usman Anwar has congratulated the police on the remarkable success against terrorists. He said the police were on high alert and would crush the evil intentions of terrorists.
Six Khwarij have been gunned down in two separate engagements in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said in a statement on Monday.
On reported presence of Khwarij, an intelligence based operation (IBO) was conducted by the security forces in general area Razmak, North Waziristan District. The troops effectively engaged the Khwarij location and killed five Khwarij.
In South Waziristan IBO, the troops effectively neutralized Khwarij ring leader Zabi Ullah alias Zakran. He remained actively involved in numerous terrorist activities against the security forces as well as in target killing of innocent civilians and was highly wanted by the law enforcement agencies.
Meanwhile, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi lauded the Punjab Police and the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) for their successful operation against terrorists in the Makarwal area of Mianwali, terming it a “significant success” in the ongoing fight against terrorism.
In a statement issued from Islamabad, the interior minister paid glowing tribute to the brave personnel of Punjab Police and CTD who, in a high-stakes operation, eliminated more than ten terrorists.
