Anora sweeps Oscars with best picture, best director and best actress for Mikey Madison

The Academy Awards have taken place in Los Angeles, with Anora scooping the most honours, while Conclave, The Brutalist, Wicked and Emilia Pérez also took prizes.

Mikey Madison has just come backstage, to speak to the awaiting press.

She calls her best actress win “a huge honour”, and one that she thinks will sink in later down the line.

She also once again pays tribute to the sex worker community who she met during filming, and to Anora director Sean Baker, calling him “a true indie filmmaker”.

“We went off to make this weird crazy movie,” she says, adding that they poured their hearts into it.When asked what’s next for her, she seems momentarily at a loss for words.

“I just want to keep making movies”, she says. “I just know that tonight I’m going home to my new puppies and probably cleaning up their mess, and that will probably take me back down to earth.”
