The PTI has organised countrywide protests today against “mandate theft” on the call of imprisoned party founder Imran Khan to reclaim the “stolen” mandate.Peaceful rallies were held in Multan, Lahore, Rawalpindi, Gujrat, Gujranwala and other cities.
The PTI has organised the protest rallies at Saho Chowk at Khanewal Road in Multan; Traffic Chowk in Dera Ghazi Khan; Dua Chowk in Rahim Yar Khan; Yadgar Chowk Azam in Layyah; Saraiki Chowk in Bahawalpur; and Katchery Chowk in Muzaffargarh.
Advocate Shoaib Shaheen, who had contested the Feb 8 elections for an NA seat from Islamabad, has told that protesters converged on Islamabad’s Zero Point Interchange at 2pm and then head to the National Press Club (NPC).
“I will start my rally from G-9/3. Similarly, Amir Mughal and Ali Bukhari (who also contested elections from Islamabad) led rallies and we were united at Zero Point,” he said. “After that, we want go to the NPC to hold a protest. It was a peaceful protest.”but police did not let them move.
According to a PTI spokesperson, the nation would never accept the “proven, most corrupt persons as the president and prime minister of the country against their will”.
PTI leader Hammad Azhar has claimed that the people of Pakistan were “disgusted” and their resentment was “palpable” over the alleged poll rigging.
“Millions of people gave a verdict at the polls & just a handful overturned it. To add insult to injury, the most disliked characters imposed on the country. Largest scale democratic suppression of modern times,” he wrote in a post on X.
The PTI says party workers protesting in Vehari have been arrested by the police.
In a post on X, the PTI said protesters marched from the Insaf House to the Vehari Press Club against alleged poll rigging. However, the police cracked down on the workers following the demonstration and arrested a number of them.
The PTI has said Rawalpindi police attempted to crack down on party workers protesting against alleged rigging.
“Shame on Maryam Nawaz’s government that is afraid of a peaceful protest,” the PTI said in a post on X.
The PTI said party leader Mian Tariq Mehmood was arrested during a peaceful protest in Gujranwala today.
“Real face of Maryam Nawaz’s illegal government: leadership of PTI, in this case, Mian Tariq Mehmood from Gujranwala gets arrested just because they peacefully protest,” the PTI said in a post on X.

He also shared photos on X that showed a huge police contingent deployed outside his residence.
PTI South Punjab President Moin Riaz Qureshi and Multan President Malik Adnan Dogar were arrested during a peaceful protest in Multan, the party has said in a post on X.
