Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan discussed with European Union foreign policy official Josep Borrell developments in the situation in Gaza on Saturday.
The two officials discussed the latest developments in the Gaza Strip, as well as military escalation in the region, in a meeting on the sidelines of the IISS Manama Security summit in Bahrain.
Prince Faisal rejected the continued military escalation and violations against civilians in Gaza, stressed the importance of haulting the escalation and forced displacement of Palestinians from the Gaza Strip.
“We call on the international community to stop the occupation’s violations against civilians in Gaza” said Prince Faisal.
Saudi Minister of Foreign Affairs Prince Faisal bin Farhan on Friday spoke on the phone with French Minister of Foreign Affairs Catherine Colonna, Saudi Press Agency reported.
During the call, the two ministers discussed developments of the military escalation in the Gaza Strip.
They agreed upon the importance of an immediate ceasefire and the supporting of a political solution to end the crisis in accordance with the relevant international resolutions, as well as stopping the forced displacement of Palestinians.
They also reviewed relations between the two countries, ways to enhance them in all fields, and the latest regional and international developments of common interest.
Prince Faisal also spoke with his Finnish counterpart Elina Valtonen on Friday to discuss the ongoing crisis in Palestine, during which they both reiterated the importance of a ceasefire.
The Saudi foreign minister and his Chinese counterpart held talks over the phone on Friday, the Kingdom's foreign ministry said.
During their call, Prince Faisal bin Farhan thanked Wang Yi for China's support for the UN resolution issued last Friday, which called for an immediate cease-fire in the Gaza Strip and for an urgent humanitarian truce amid Israel's war with Hamas.
According to the foreign ministry, Prince Faisal and Wang discussed the ongoing situation in the Palestinian enclave and the increasing threat to life of civilians.
They also agreed on the need for the international community to fulfil its responsibility to bring an end to all military action in Gaza and return the two sides to a path of just and comprehensive peace, the ministry said.
Prince Faisal and Wang also discussed Saudi-Chinese relations, the ministry added.
