A suspected serial killer has been arrested in Thailand. Sararat Rangsiwuthaporn (35) is accused of poisoning up to 20 friends and acquaintances. This is reported by the Bangkok Post.
Accordingly, the 36-year-old, who is four months pregnant, traveled to Ratchaburi province with a friend. There the two women took part in a Buddhist protection ritual. Still on the riverbank, Siriporn Khanwong († 32) collapsed on April 14, cause of death: heart attack.
However, the parents of the dead were skeptical and had the body autopsied. And indeed, cyanide (a highly toxic salt of hydrocyanic acid) could be detected in the body. The police then began to investigate Rangsiwuthaporn and finally arrested the 35-year-old. In her possession, officers found a vial of the death bringer.
The accused is currently in a women’s prison and is considered to be at risk of escaping
Sararat Rangsiwuthaporn, who is separated from a senior police officer, denies all the allegations. However, investigators were able to identify up to 20 similar deaths in the immediate vicinity of the alleged mass murderer.
Apparently, the Thai woman killed for financial reasons. A woman who survived and vomited after eating Rangsiwuthaporn said she previously loaned her friend 250,000 baht. Relatives of those who died said the dead were missing hundreds of thousands of baht in cash and jewelry.
It will be difficult to solve all murders from December 2020 to April 2023. While Zynaid is well documented and has been around for a long time, some of the bodies have been cremated.
The alleged serial killer is currently in a women’s prison. She is considered to be at risk of absconding, which is why Sararat Rangsiwuthaporn cannot be released on bail. According to her defense attorney, the pregnant woman is suffering from high blood pressure.
