JRF come forward for the help of flood-hit Peopl;e in different areas

Jalaluddin Roomi Foundation (JRF)is responding with the Government  helping to deliver safe drinking water; lifesaving medical supplies; FRJ is also establishing temporary shelters and supporting the protection and psychosocial wellbeing of children affected by these devastating floods. But much more is needed to ensure we can reach all families displaced by floods and help them overcome this climate disaster.Torrential monsoon rains have triggered the most severe flooding in Pakistan’s recent history, washing away villages and leaving around 3.4 million children in need of assistance and at increased risk of waterborne diseases, drowning and malnutrition.

Hundreds of thousands of homes have been destroyed, while many public health facilities, water systems and schools have been destroyed or damaged.  More than 664,000 people were sheltering in displacement camps, with many lacking adequate shelter and access to adequate food, clean water and sanitation. These views were expressed by noted industrialist, former Punjab caretaker Minister for industry, ex-President of Multan & Dera Ghazi Khan Chambers of Commerce and Industry while distributing ration  among the flood-affected people of South Punjab, Balochistan and Sindh. He said that the devastation caused by the flood this time in South Punjab has never been seen in the past. Standing crop of cotton over  19, 911 acres worth Rupees 3980 million have been washed away in flood relays. While Maize, corn, sugarcane, paddy, rice, pulses, and fodder crops have also been destroyed. This will create a food crisis in the coming days. We have to take immediate steps to rehabilitate the flood victims. On the other hand, in the coming days, the people should be provided with cheap wheat, quality vegetables and pulses immediately.

He said that at present major part  of the country is under flood after heavy rains. The government resources are as much as possible. But this disaster is so great that we need the cooperation of the whole world with the private sector.

Khawaja Jalaluddin Roomi said that when there was a flood in the past in 2010, the entire nation was on one page to help them. The Pakistani nation is special. He said that this is not the time for political differences but for people to start relief operations immediately. The reward is given by God himself.

Khawaja Jalaluddin Roomi said that we have not learned anything from the earthquake of 2005 and the flood of 2010. Now the tragedy of 2022 is in front of us. According to the reports so far, more than twelve hundred precious lives have been lost. But still, none of the federal and provincial governments have thought when the dams will be built in our country. The budget is allocated every year for the protection of small towns and villages. Where is it spent? What is done? Disasters in case of melting glaciers. When strategies will be put in place to avoid it. Why did not call an all-party conference to prevent

Khawaja Jalaluddin Rumi while speaking added that the problem pointed out by Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa, who gave the permission for construction of dykes, spur-bunds, bridges on rivers and streams, should also be acted upon. Financial loss can be avoided. He said that now the need is to conduct a national survey to assess which city may face more risks in case of a flood.

Khawaja Jalaluddin Roomi appealed to the doctors that after the flood waters of the rains have passed, there are outbreaks of epidemics. Have to do it.
