Germany has shown interest in investing in Pakistan's all sectors to expand its presence in the country.The German investors have expressed interest to bring investment in various sectors and also observe new avenues to enhance the business and investment ties between Pakistan and Germany,stated German Defence Attache John Tampa while exchanging views with eminent industrialist and ex-President of Multan & Dera Ghazi Khan Chambers of Commerce and Industry Khawaja Jalaluddin Roomi. Appreciating the quality and standard of Pakistani products, John Tampa said that these are liked in every nook and corner of the world. Germany has recognised the significance of South Punjab region by initiating the Metro Cash & Carry project in Multan.Expressing his satisfaction on the total trade volume worth $2.659 billion, Khawaja Jalaluddin Roomi said that he was optimistic about further improvement in the business volume between the two countries in the foreseeable future.He said that the German government has always supported the revival of Pakistan's economy.More than 40 German companies are present in the Pakistani market. Some of the well-known German companies based in Pakistan include BASF (Chemicals), BMW (Automobile), Daimler AG (Automotive), DHL (Courier), Lufthansa Cargo (Cargo airline) (Not currently flying to Pakistan), Merck Group (Pharmaceutical), Metro Cash and Carry (Wholesale), and Siemens (Conglomerate). In addition, the German Development Organization GIZ has extended its cooperation to complete several development projects in various sectors of Pakistan. We do hope that other European countries will also trust Pakistan.Khawaja Jalaluddin Roomi added that the value added products made in Pakistan are popular all over the world. And we look forward to strong bilateral relations with Germany in the future.He said that Germany is very important for Pakistan because it is indeed a good friend. Every Pakistani government has preferred German people ,investors, traders and iussue them visas without any hesitation.They can get visa even on arrival of Pakistani airports.Since Pakistan was emerging as growing economy due to CPEC ,German investors must take interest in establishing moidern industry in Special Economic zones where great incentives are awaiting for them. Khawaja Jalaluddin Roomi said that Germany should support Pakistan for maintaining the GSP plus status which goes so far in only lowering tariffs on goods exported to Europe from Pakistan;Germany is a major trade partner of Pakistan, with trade volume rising to 3.34 bn USD . It was a slight increase of 2% from last year—despite the COVID-19 pandemic. It is interesting to note that Pakistan is one of the very few countries with which Germany has a trade surplus. Pakistan exported goods worth 2.12 bn USD to Germany and imported goods worth 1.21 bn USD in 2020. More than 1.8 bn USD of Pakistani exports to Germany are in clothes and related items. A major part of German exports to Pakistan comprises machinery, chemicals, and pharmaceutical products. The German economy is the largest in the European Union and runs a trade surplus with most trade Partners.
German Defence attache John Tampa highly appreciated the services rendered by Khawaja Jalaluddin Roomi and said that he was committed to the cause of social, medical, educational requirements and elimination of deprivation of the underprivileged class.He also appreciated the provision of potable water to the needy people and saving them from diseases. John Tampa said Roomi has become a role model for others. He (Jalaluddin Roomi) is known for helping kidney patients in various hospitals in South Punjab and Sindh. In addition, the daily provision of food to the needy people in different parts of Multan has accelerated the process of social change. The manner in which he is engaged in the promotion of business activities in South Punjab. He is an example to follow. He said that we support the Pakistani government in the matter of GST plus. Because Germany is interested in trade relations with Pakistan. And Pakistan encourages exports of products.And Pakistan encourages exports of products.
