Dera Ghazi Khan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DGCCI) and a team of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) Multan on Thursday signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to facilitate the business community.
The agreement was signed between DGCCI and PIA. It is meant to provide better and timely facilities to the business community through the national flag carrier. This was stated during a meeting between Chamber President Khawaja Jalaluddin Roomi and District Manager of PIA Multan, Syed Baqar Naqvi at the Chamber. Senior Vice President of Dera Ghazi Khan Chamber Muhammad Latif Khan Pitafi, Vice President Zahid Nizam, Former Presidents Khawaja Muhammad Ilyas , Khawaja Muhammad Younas, Ex-Senior Vice President Muhammad Tariq Ismail, Member Sheikh Tahir Mairaj, Sales Promotion Manager of PIA Irfan Nasir, A.D.Maitla, Riaz Ahmed Sheikh, Faisal Ali. Malik Muhammad Mujahid Secretary-General of the chamber and ladies were also present on the occasion.
Khawaja Jalaluddin Roomi greeted CEO PIA Air Marshal Arshad Khan for announcing a special incentive of 17 per cent discount in domestic and international fare for the business community of the Dera Ghazi Khan division and hoped that an attractive package would be announced for the exporters of Mangoes . The Chamber chief asked the PIA to take initiatives to give incentives to the business community at every level to help attract the traders, exporters and importers to the national airlines to make the PIA a profit-making entity.
Khawaja Jalaluddin Roomi said that Dera Ghazi Khan Chamber was endeavouring for the promotion of industrial and economic activities in the region. He stressed the need for introducing domestic as well as international flights from Dera Ghazi Khan airport and not to shut its D.G.Khan office because more than 6,50,000 people of this region are serving abroad who were facing hardships in reaching home from other airports. This airport also facilitates the people of Loralai, Rukni, Zhob of Balochistan. He disclosed that a private airline had agreed to introduce flights from Dera Ghazi Khan to Karachi and Dubai etc.
Syed Baqar Naqvi District Manager PIA apprised the meeting about various packages, schemes and facilities which were being offered by the PIA across the country.He assured that Dera Ghazi Khan's PIA office would not be closed.
Executive Committee member of DGCCI Sardar Zulfikar Ali Khan Nasuha, Barrister Abbas Ali Khan Nasuha, Mirza Muhammad Iqbal, Mirza Zafar Iqbal, Haji Saifullah Pitafi, Abdul Karim Khan Khosa, Shoaib Sardar Khan, Shakil Ahmed Raj, Atif Iftikhar, Asif Razzaq, and Muhammad Ali Khan lauded the services of Khawaja Jalaluddin Roomi for the promotion of business activities in Dera Ghazi Khan and highlighting its problems to get resolve them.
