Bank of Punjab Chief Executive Officer/President Zafar Masud said that he was among the two survivors after a Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) plane crashed in 2020 in a residential area near the metropolis' Jinnah International Airport. Because my parents were praying and reciting from holy Quran for my survival. He was among the 98 persons travelling in Karachi-bound PIA flight PK-8303 from Lahore, which crashed in the Jinnah Garden area near Model Colony in Malir almost a minute before landing. He was narrating his survival story to the office bearers of Chamber of Commerce & Industry Multan and Dera Ghazi Khan.He said “It seemed that my God just came by himself for my rescue and saved me”,
The BoP Chairman Zafar Masud also shared the lesson he had learnt from the accident and said that he felt as if God Almighty was pleased with everything he had been doing in the past and he will continue with the practice .
He said that “one of the major aspect was patriotism, our commitment with the our country and do the things in the right way, try and be as honest as possible, trying as helpful to the others, try and be committed to your country as much as possible”, Zafar advised and added that “You have to be better than the rest, in terms of your conduct and actions and in terms of your behaviours with your fellow countrymen”. He said that it is my new life gifted by Almighty Allah to serve the human beings.
Zafar Masud said that he had started to develop and uplift bank of Punjab to bring it at par with the best banks of Pakistan ans I have initiated this task from the city of Saints "Multan" He said that BOP was doing work on different projects for the development of businesses in South Punjab and providing financial assistance on less and affordable markup. He disclosed the BoP was providing loans to farmers for the purchase of tractors for the first time on subsidised rates of markup. Loans for the purchase of 200 tractors have already been sanctioned. He further said that we are going to introduce Islamic Banking in each branch of our bank. Now we are doing work with new vision
In his welcome address noted industrialist, President of Dera Ghazi Khan Chamber,Ex-President of MCCI and former Punjab caretaker Minister for Industry Khawaja Jalaluddin Roomi said that we welcome CEO/President of Bank of Punjab in the city of spiritual Saints and assured to cooperate with the Bank of Punjab. He said that BoP should establish its facilitation booth at Multan and Dera Ghazi Khan chambers to help in conducting various government payments at this one stop shop. The payments include e-Stamping, e-Challan, PESSI contribution payment, Vehicle Taxes, Registration Taxes, Property Tax, Professional Tax, driving License Fee, and various other provincial payments.
