Fayyaz Chohan removed as Punjab information minister, again

 


In a surprising development, Punjab government’s firebrand spokesperson Fayyazul Hassan Chohan has been removed from his post.

This is the second time Chohan has been removed from the post of provincial information minister.

Besides him, two other provincial minsters have also been sacked from the cabinet, according to separate notifications issued by the provincial government on Monday.

Prime Minister Imran Khan’s former aide on communication Firdous Ashiq Awan has been appointed as Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar’s aide on information.

Firdous, while making a comeback under the PTI rule, has replaced Javaid Akhtar and given an additional portfolio of Special Assistant to Chief Minister on Information. Akhtar held the portfolio of Transport.

“I am greatly humbled and honored with the confidence that my great leader Imran Khan has shown in myself and my ability. I am also deeply thankful to the honourable CM Punjab for making me a part of his team. I will do my level best to honour this call to duty,” she wrote on her official Twitter handle minutes later.Accoding to the notification, Chohan was holding two portfolios — colonies/information and his charge of spokesperson has been taken back.

Cooperatives Minister Mehar Muhammad Aslam and Minister for Prisons Zawar Hussain Waraich are the other two members of provincial cabinet who are removed from their posts.
