MCCI is serving the destitutes like Thalassaemia patients


MULTAN, Oct 6th: Multan Chamber is contributing to the economic and trade development in Southern Punjab besides extending helping hand to needy people,poor patients and other destitute. President of Multan Chamber of Commerce & Industry (MCCI) Khawaja Salahuddin said while addressing a drug distributing ceremony organised by Welfare committee of MCCI for 100 Thalassaemia patients here today.He said that Multan chamber is working within its jurisdiction to fulfil its corporate social responsibility (CSR).It has provided financial assistance to 100 Thalassaemia patients. Keeping in view the importance of Thalassaemia, Pakistan Bait-ul-Mal should establish a State of the Art Thalassaemia centre in Multan to cater the patients of South Punjab. Khawaja Salauddin further said the chamber strongly believed in CSR and would continue to extend a helping hand to all the charitable institutions for the fulfilment of their noble cause. Senior Vice President of MCCI Syed Iftikhar Ali Shah said that member of Multan chamber is fulfilling their sacred duties by serving the need people. It is our moral and religious duty to serve the destitute. He said that Thalassaemia is a blood disorder passed down through families (inherited) in which the body makes an abnormal form of haemoglobin, the protein in red blood cells that carries oxygen. He further said that a report reveals that  100,000 patients are suffering from Thalassaemia in Pakistan and every year 5,000 babies are born with this deadly disease. Former Vice President Nadeem Ahmed Sheikh  Member Executive Committee Sheikh Faisal Saeed, Sheikh Umair said that we should not neglect Thalassaemia patients. The ceremony was also attended by Ch.Altaf Shahid, Aurangzeb Alamgir, Secretary-General Muhammad Shafiq. The welfare committee provided them with one month of medicines.
