Chairman Senate presented a Shield to Dr.Jessu Mal and felicitates him


Muhammad Sadiq Sanjrani Chairman of the Senate assured that the issue of decline in Cotton production be discussed in the standing committee on Commerce to increase the cotton production on a top priority basis and he would also discuss this issue with Prime Minister Imran Khan who is taking a keen interest in agriculture and has called for a comprehensive report to formulate agricultural policy.He was exchanging views with Dr.Jessu Mal Chairman of Pakistan Cotton Ginners Association(PCGA) in his chamber. He also presented a shield to PCGA Chairman besides felicitating him of assuming charge as Chairman of the association. Vice-Chairman Chander Lal, Lachhman Das Adwani,Senator Ashuk Kumar, Chairman of Senate's Standing Committee on Commerce Mirza Muhammad Afridi were also present there. Chairman Senate told the delegation that Government has started work on boosting up the Cotton production and a board was being established at the Government level comprising on all stakeholders of cotton from growers to spinner.He said Prime Minister wants to improve the agriculture sector and it is a good omen that all parties, putting aside political differences, are working towards this end.He further said that the government wants a scientific solution to the problems related to agriculture including those caused by Covid-19.Dr.Jessu Mal said that Government must prohibit the sowing of sugarcane in cotton core areas, provide good quality and well-germinated seed, pure and effective pesticides to growers then there would be cotton production beyond our expectations.
