Renowned Shia scholar Allama Zameer Akhtar passes away at 76

Renowned Shia scholar Allama Zameer Akhtar Naqvi passed away at the age of 76 late Saturday night after suffering a cardiac arrest.He was also known as "Luddan Jafari"
According to the scholar's friends and family, he was shifted to a private hospital last night where he died after suffering a heart attack. His funeral prayers will be offered at Incholi Imambargah after maghrib prayers.
Naqvi was born in 1944 in the Indian city of Lucknow where he studied until graduation, later moving to Karachi in 1967.
He had a PhD from the University of Karachi and was known to have knowledge of science, philosophy, literature, culture, journalism and Islamic history. He also remained the editor of the Al Kalam magazine besides heading the Anees Academy.He also authored 28 books on various subjects, including Urdu ghazals and the events of Karbala.
His funeral prayers was offered in the Imambargah Shuhada-e-Karbala in Federal B area in the evening.
 He wrote a two-volume biography on Qasim Ibn Hassan. His book, Meraj -e-Khattabat, consists spans five volumes.The scholar was also known across Pakistan and the world for lectures on science, history, and philosophy. His popularity was based not only on his knowledge and expertise but his love for his followers.
Condolences
Sindh Governor Imran Ismail expressed sadness over the popular scholar's demise, his spokesperson said, adding that he prayed Dr Naqvi's forgiveness and elevation of ranks.
"May God grant patience to his bereaved family," Ismail said, as per his spokesperson.
Condolences started pouring in as soon as the news of the scholar's demise broke. Several politicians were also among thoes who expressed grief.
Pakistan Peoples Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari also expressed his condolences. He said he was deeply saddened to hear the news of Allama Zameer Akhtar's demise, adding that the country has been robbed of a great religious scholar.
"He was a proponent of interfaith and inter-sect harmony. He will be remembered for his efforts to promote religious scholarship for a long time," he added.
Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah and Governor Sindh Imran Ismail also expressed their condolences and prayed for his forgiveness.
Pak Sarzameen Party (PSP) Chairman Mustafa Kamal also expressed grief over the death of the renowned scholar. He said,"The services of Allama Syed Zameer Naqvi will always be remembered. The chairman said that his thoughts were with his family during this difficult time.
