Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Shehbaz Sharif has decided to return to Pakistan after spending months in London and will reach the country on Sunday morning subject to the availability of flight.
He is returning to the country via PIA’s Islamabad-bound flight (PK-786) which is stated to depart from Heathrow airport at 16:40 (GMT) on Saturday and is expected to land in Islamabad at 5:30 am on Sunday. He had left for London along with his ailing brother Nawaz Sharif last year.
Speaking to a private news channel, PML-N spokesperson Marriyum Aurangzeb said Shehbaz has decided to return to the country in view of the ongoing coronavirus crisis.
She said Nawaz Sharif, the former prime minister, who is being treated for his ailments in the United Kingdom, is scheduled to undergo surgery for his heart complications soon. “Shehbaz Sharif has decided to return to the country despite his brother’s heart condition,” she added.
In a video, Shehbaz said he wanted to return to Pakistan amid coronavirus crisis but could not due to the health issues of his elder brother. “But when I heard about Pakistan’s airspace closure starting from tonight, I asked my brother his permission to return to the homeland, which he gave,” he said.
The former chief minister also expressed concerns about the worsening situation of the economy and asked the government to take appropriate steps at the national level for improving the economic situation of the country.
