Jalal uddin Roomi hailed PM financial stimulus package to mitigate economic fallout from Covid-19 outbreak

MULTAN, March 24th:  Chairman of Multan Dry Port Trust (MDPT) and Ex-President of Chamber of Commerce &  Industry Multan and Dera Ghazi Khan Khawaja Jalaluddin Roomi has hailed the Prime Minister Imran Khan's financial stimulus package of Rs.1200 billion to deal with the adverse impact of the coronavirus outbreak on the country's economy. Talking to Mediamen here on Tuesday, Roomi said that reduction in the mark-up rate by 1.5 percent and announcement to pay sales tax refunds of Rs.100 billion were two historical decisions which would help in strengthening the economy.He said that Prime Minister has taken the far reaching measures to safeguard the most vulnerable segments of society and mitigate the economic losses to businesses and industries. He said that allocation of Rs.200 billion for labourers across the country. He further said that PTI government was coordinating with provinces to convince businesses not to lay off labourers. Jalaluddin Roomi said that another amount of Rs.100 billion for small and medium industries and the agriculture sector. Their interest payments will be deferred and they will also be able to enjoy concessional loans at low interest rates. Farmers across the country will also enjoy lower costs of input.Similarly another package of Rs150 billion was allocated for low-income families and it would be distributed among them over a period of 4 months. The prime minister also promised that these families would be given cash payments of Rs3,000 each month. Commenting on the reduction of prices of  Petroleum products by Rs.15/litre, Roomi said that this step would help in reducing the cost of production besides alleviating the miseries of common man  prices. He further said that it was a good step in prevailing critical situation that prime minister announced that consumers may pay their bills in installments over the next three months who were utilising 300 units of electricity or who incur a gas bill of around Rs2000 each month.This step would be helpful for 81 per cent of consumers.Earlier Khawaja Jalaluddin Roomi said that Mehmood Group of Industries had ever extended helping hand for the alleviation of miseries and pains of humanity and It joined hands with armed forces and administration in rescue and relief work.He said that When the frightened people confined to their home due to the fear of Coronavirus, Mehmood group was serving the people with the collaboration of Commissioner Multan Shan-ul Haq ,Deputy Commissioner Abdul Amer  Khattak and armed forces round the clock. He hoped that day was not far off when we would be succeeded in combating this lethal virus.
