Cyber Crimes- Man gets 8-year in jail for sharing compromising photos of ex-fiancée on internet

An anti-cybercrime court has awarded an eight-year imprisonment sentence to the accused in a case pertaining to sharing compromising photos of a girl on social media.
The accused, Muhammad Sajjad was also slapped with Rs500,000 fine by the court of Judge Tahir Mehmood in the federal capital.
The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) had registered a case against Sajjad on charges of blackmailing his ex-fiancée and uploading her nude photos on social media.
The complainant had prayed that the accused had maligned her character which led to termination of her Nikah even before her Rukhsati.
During today’s hearing, statements of the victim, investigation officer, forensic expert of FIA and other witnesses were recorded before the court.
The complainant told the court that she had broken two-year long relation with her betrothed after coming to know of his criminal history. She said the accused had sexually assaulted her by calling her at his home and then blackmailed her by taking her compromising photos. He also threatened the victim of murder and making the illicit images public.
Later on, when she tied the knot with someone else, the accused uploaded the objectionable photos on Facebook and sent it to her new relatives-in-law including her husband. This led to her divorce even before her Rukhsati.
Finding the accused guilty on all counts, the court sentenced him eight-year imprisonment with Rs0.5 million in fine. The sentence was announced under Sections 20 and 21 of the Pakistan Penal Court (PPC).
