ICC’s anti-corruption officer takes abrupt trip to Pakistan

The International Cricket Council’s (ICC’s) anti-corruption officer Steve Richardson has made an abrupt trip to Pakistan. The officer held a meeting with former Test cricketer Mansoor Akhtar at the National Stadium in Karachi on Friday.
Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB’s) anti-corruption unit’s officer, Colonel (Retired) Usman was also present during the meeting that lasted for more than an hour.
According to sources, the ICC representative received information from the former cricketer regarding the fixing offer that was reported by Pakistan batsman Umar Akmal during the Global Twenty20 League in Canada.
Steve Richardson is expected to stay in Karachi for a few more days and is likely to meet other former players as well.
Earlier, Akmal had reported a match-fixing offer made to him during the GT20 Canada.
According to details, Akmal had allegedly claimed that a former Pakistan cricketer approached him with a match-fixing offer, which he immediately reported to the International Cricket Council (ICC) Anti-Corruption Unit. Akmal was representing Winnipeg Hawks during the event.
When the PCB was approached on this issue, the board said that they had nothing to do with the league.
“Canada is handling Global T20 League's administration. Pakistan Cricket Board has nothing to do with it,” a PCB spokesperson said.
