Two die as they jump off burning Karachi building

Two persons succumbed to injuries after they jumped off the building that caught fire earlier today.Eight others, including a woman, suffered injuries and were shifted to a hospital. Jinnah Hospital administration said five injured were brought to the hospital of which three have been shifted to the burns centre. Further, a Civil Hospital Burns Centre incharge said that three others have been admitted at the hospital's burns ward.
Fire brigade officials said that the fire which had engulfed five to six floors of the building has been doused. "The fire erupted owing to a short circuit in an a/c on the fourth floor of the building and spread through electrical wires," the fire brigade officials continued.
Ten fire tenders, two snorkels and a water bowser doused the fire, the fire brigade officials added. Pakistan Army and Navy helicopters also took part in the rescue operations, officials said.
On Saturday night, a blaze had erupted in the metropolis' Finance & Trade Center Building but was brought under control after a few hours. The fire, which erupted on the sixth floor of the building on Shahrah-e-Faisal, was so severe that it spread to the floor below very soon. Fire brigade officials had immediately dispatched emergency crews to the scene.
According to details, nine people are suffering from serious burns, with three of them in a critical condition at Civil Hospital's Burn's Centre.
The residential building, located at University Road, also comprises of several offices. The rescue services controlled the fire after hours of hectic efforts and Pakistan Navy's help.
