Police on Thursday claimed to have arrested nine suspects, including three young women, on charges of supplying drugs to educational institutions in the city, officials said.
“Sharea Faisal police conducted an action and arrested six suspects, including three girls,” said East SSP Azfar Mahesar.
He said one of the arrested suspects, Rohail Shakil alias Raju, was a “notorious and absconding drug supplier”.
Two other suspects were identified as Waqas, alias Wicky, and Abdul Rahim, alias Mama.
Their three “helper girls” were also arrested.
The officer claimed that the held suspects with the help of the girls were involved in supplying drugs in a massive way at parties, farmhouses, educational institutions and posh areas of the city.
“This was the most wanted gang of ice and cocaine suppliers at educational institutes,” said the SSP.
To avoid checking by law enforcers, they travelled in a car with the girls to give the impression that they were a family.
“Very alarming data has been retrieved from their mobile phones, showing their customers and links with different people,” said the SSP, without elaborating further. The police claimed to have seized 3,374 kilograms of hashish and three pistols from them.
Gang of ‘drug dealers’
Separately, Sukkan police busted an “inter-provincial gang of drug dealers” by arresting three suspects in Rehri Goth.
The held suspects, identified as Abdul Shakoor, Idris and Shadmir, were “involved in supplying drugs to educational institutes” and other networks, claimed Malir SSP Irfan Bahadur.
During the initial probe, they revealed that they used to bring drugs from other provinces to the city. The police claimed to have seized over seven kilograms of hashish from their custody.
Estate agent found shot dead
An estate agent was found shot dead in the outskirts of the city on Thursday, police said.
Gadap City SHO Shaur Khan Bangash said that the bullet-riddled body of Samir Saleem, in his early 40s, was found near Hakim Brohi Goth off the Superhighway.
The victim was a property dealer, living in PIB Colony.
