Two MQM-London 'target killers' arrested in Karachi

The law enforcement agencies on Sunday arrested two members of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan-London (MQM-L) who were allegedly involved in targetted killing in Karachi.
The suspects were nabbed in two separate raids in the city, with a large cache of arms and ammunition also recovered from their possession.
According to a Sindh Rangers spokesperson, acting on a tip-off, the paramilitary force arrested a suspect identified as Farooq, who had been involved in various crimes since 2007 near Disco Bakery in Gulshan-e-Iqbal.
Fearing arrest back in 2013, Farooq had gone underground, the paramilitary spokesperson added.
The suspect was also involved in illegal sale of arms and ammunition and was caught with unlicensed weapons. He was handed over to local police.
In a separate operation, police raided Bahadarabad’s Kidney Hill Park, where they managed to recover a stockpile of arms and ammunition hidden underground.
SSP Police Ghulam Asfar said they arrested Naseem alias Builder after a police encounter on Tipu Sultan Road.
A long range sniper rifle, an AK-47, along with four pistols were recovered in the operation.
Naseem was a MQM-L member and had been looking for a deal similar to NRO with the authorities.
He has also confessed to the murder of Dr Muzahir Ali Qureshi back in 1998.
District Central police had arrested at least five suspects on August 5 belonging to a political party who were allegedly involved in about half-a-dozen cases of targeted killings, including that of a policeman.
The suspects, according to the police, were involved in various targeted killings in District Central between 2012 and 2015. They were identified as Kamran alias Pager, Arif alias Chilly, Irfan Naseem, Imran Naseem and Aurangzeb Ali alias Munna.
The arrests were disclosed during a press conference held by Central SSP Irfan Baloch. The SSP disclosed that the suspects were arrested after the police conducted a raid at the APWA College ground in Federal B Area on a tip-off.
The suspects were affiliated with the Muttahida Qaumi Movement-London, said SSP Baloch, adding that they killed a police constable, Mushtaq, posted to the Paposh Nagar police station, along with other people in the Nazimabad and Paposh areas.
