Rehman Baba Express gives Multan route to facilitate the South Punjab commuters

MULTAN - Pakistan Railways Divisional Superintendent (DS)Multan Amir Daud Pota said  that Rehman Baba Express plying between Peshawar and Karachi has been given route of Multan in order to facilitate the people of South Punjab.
During a meeting with President of Multan Chamber of Commerce & Industry Muhammad Sarfraz,Chairman of Multan Dry Port Trust Khawaja Muhammad Fazil and other members here, Amir Daud Pota said that the new route of Rehman Baba Express would reach Multan at 10:30 pm daily. He said that Railway Multan Division was on second number across the country with regard to infrastructure and on third number in revenue generation after Karachi and Lahore. He said that services in Railway is being improved to facilitate the passengers and shopping malls are proposed to construct their railway station to attract the buyers besides generating more revenue for this organisation to make it a profit-oriented entity.
He said that passengers from Multan to Faisalabad has been increased to 97 percent after restoration of Faisalabad Express. He said the department has demanded a new rake from the headquarters and soon a new time table would be prepared after consultation with traders and other business community for their facilitation.
Amir Daud Pota said that efforts were being made to restore Multan to Pindi Thal Express and Shah Rukn-e-Alam Express. He said that inquiry and reservation system was being made latest. He said that trains from seven different divisions reached Multan and now special focus was being given on goods trains.
On this occasion, President Chamber of Commerce and Industry Muhammad Sarfraz said that Railway journey is the safest and businessmen would prefer to travel by train if duration of journey is reduced by increasing the speed of the trains besides improving the facilities. He further said that Railway should introduce cheaper cargo trains to attract the business community, He further suggested that timings of trains for Karachi and Lahore must be changed and said that there was no train for Rawalpindi or Lahore or Karachi in the morning. Chairman Multan Dry Port Trust Khawaja Fazal, Deputy Divisional Superintendent Railway Azhar Riaz, Divisional Commercial Officer Nabila Aslam,Khawaja Muhammad Yousaf,Ex-President of MCCI Secretary General of MCCI KHurram Javed Butt and other senior officers were also present.Pakistan Railway failed to replace the damaged bogies of Sandhal express for Sargodha via Jhang, Faisalabad Express. There is no train on Multan-Kashmore section via Kotadu, Dera Ghazi Khan, Rajanpur and Rojhan.Similarly.Multan-Peshawar via Kundian ,Basal and Attock train, A train for Rawalpindi via Kotadu, Kundian in the morning  could not be released.
