US coalition forces hit the hideouts of Islamic State militants-21 killed in Afghanistan

At least 21 suspected Islamic State militants were killed on Sunday in drone strikes carried out by US coalition forces in the Nangarhar province of Afghanistan, Khaama Press reported.
Afghan Military’s 201st Corps confirmed the number of casualties in a statement and that the strikes were carried out in Khogyani district of the restive province.
“The coalition forces carried out airstrikes using unmanned aerial vehicles, targeting Islamic State militants in Sikanar area of Wazir Tangi.” the statement further added.
Taliban insurgents and Islamic State militants have been trying to expand their activities and foothold in the Nangarhar province since a couple of years.
The US-led coalition forces along with the Afghan Army often conduct counterterrorism operations and airstrikes to suppress militants in the war-torn country.
