He said that we are mending the institutions on the pattern of KPK and we have started the mission of rule of law.Governor said that Gen.Pervez Musharraf has initiated a clean water for all programme with an estimated cost of Rs.45 billion.Similarly Nawaz Sharif and Shahbaz Sharif also launched this clean water programme. but what a pity that Two third water purification plants are lying idle/closed and only one third are operational.We have called a report about all the water plants and asked the NGOs, Charity organisations, Chambers, Welfare organisation to submit their reports of the water plants being run under their supervision.He said that sub-soil water of Lahore became toxic and it was not drinkable.He said that 1.1 million people have so far been died after drinking polluted water in the country. Earlier Khawaja Jalaluddin Roomi spoke at leangth on the problems confronted by the people of South Punjab in Cardialogy Institute, recruitments on political ground in Agriculture University and Engineering University.Roomi said that Proprietary rights be given to more than 500 industrialists i n Industrial estate spread over 800 acres.He further said that an overhead bridge be constructed o n the railway track. Punjab Governor Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar Thursday said that health and education were very important fields and prime focus of the incumbent government.
Speaking at the 1st convocation of Nishtar Medical University (MNU) here, he heaped praise on the position holder female doctors. He said that girls were knocking out boys in education field, adding that Pakistan might be the only country in the world in future where boys would be allocated quota for admission to medical colleges if the situation remains the same.
The girl students were far ahead of boys as far as securing positions was concerned, he said adding that today three girl students got 12 gold medals.
He advised graduating doctors to always respect their parents and teachers alike and never forget their roots, especially when they attain high positions in life.
He said that he always approached his parents whenever he faced hard times, adding that their blessings and prayers always made a difference.
Medicines was one of the noblest professions and doctors were the refection of Allah Almighty, he said adding that they were ‘messiahs’ for the ailing humanity.
“If Allah blesses one with power and wealth, one should serve the humanity,” Chaudhry Sarwar said.
About the NMU, the governor said it was one of the oldest and premier medicines institutions of the country, adding that the University of Health Sciences (UHS) and Nishtar Medical University (NMU) were gaining new heights of success.
Pakistan was facing shortage of electricity, the governor said and added that he had asked all public and private universities to shift to solar systems for which the government would extend full support.
Earlier, NMU Vice Chancellor Dr Mustafa Kamal Pasha highlighted the achievements of the university in field of medicines. He said that they were working on water conservation and trying their level best to take the NMU to international standards.
The governor gave away medals and awards to positions holder doctors. Parliamentarians, VC BZU Dr Tahir Amin, VC MNSUA Dr Asif Ali, ED CPEIC Dr Rana Altaf, parents, high-ups of district administration and a large number of students attended the convocation.
