MULTAN, Oct 2nd: With the arrival of two ships laden with sun-flower and  canola were stuck up at Karachi harbour due to delay in fungus test. No one is ready to accept his responsibility to check the imported edible oilseed properly and without any delay. There is no limit of Government's bureaucracy's in efficiency, negligence and irresponsibility.
Solvent extractors told this scribe two ship loaded with 60,000 metric tons of canola and sun flowers each are waiting for unloading of the product for the last two weeks. The importers are contacting the concerned federal secretaries and other high ups but all in vain because everyone is busy for nothing  but everyone is pretending to very busy.Due to delay in unloading of consignments ,importers would have to pay demurrage.
Solvent extractors have warned the Government that solvent plants would be closed due to non-availability of sun-flower and canola seed which was stuck up on the Karachi port. They are trying to contact the concerned high ups to end the two week standoff between the importers and tax authorities.
The delay in clearance has blocked their working capital of $ 70 million ( More than Rs.8 billion). Port authorities are equally perturbed, who have threatened to return these ships  if the importers do not clear them.
Sources said that solvent extractors have invested $ 35 million per ship to import edible oilseed to run their Solvent extraction plants but ministry of food and agriculture was not caring for the loss to be incurred  by them. They would have to pay demurrage due to delay in clearance of consignments.
