Amjad Saleemi appointed as Punjab IGP, ECP halted the posting

Amjad Javed Saleemi on Tuesday has been appointed the Inspector General Punjab (IGP) Police.A notification to this effect has been issued by the Establishment Division.but Election Commission of Pakistan hated his posting due to ban on postings and transfers in view of by-election.
Amjab Saleemi replaced Tahir Khan who served as the Punjab IGP for a period of one month and two days. 
He has earlier also served as Sindh's police chief. 
Amjad Saleemi joined the civil services on November 1, 1986. He belongs to the 14th Common division and his domicile is Faisalabad. 
He was previously a grade 22 officer of Police Service of Pakistan, serving as IG National Highways and Motorway Police (NH&MP). He has served as Inspector General of Police Sindh in 2017 in place of A.D.Khawaja.He was promoted to grade 21 in October 2017.He had also served as additional IG Multan.
The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Tuesday suspended the government's decision to replace Punjab police chief Tahir Khan.
Earlier today, Amjad Javed Saleemi has been appointed the Inspector General Punjab (IGP) Police and a  notification to this effect has also been issued by the Establishment Division.
Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Justice (R) Sardar Muhammad Raza seek details pertaining to Tahir Khan's removal as IGP Punjab from the Election Commission Secretariat.
The ECP also asked the secretary establishment to halt the transfer. According to election commission officials, the police chief cannot be replaced due to the upcoming by-polls.
