Opposition parties stage protest outside ECP office in Islamabad

"Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal (MMA) and other political parties , aligned against the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), are staging a protest outside Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) office in Islamabad today.
The protest is being attended by leadership of all the allied parties, and will be headed by PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif who is set to join the protest shortly.
Members of anti-PTI alliance began gathering outside the ECP office after noon, where they are protesting against rigging of recently-held General Election 2018.
PPP leader Sherry Rehman, speaking to reporters on the occasion, said it was necessary to remain peaceful and demanded resignation from the ECP officials.
She said, We will go to the Parliament and unite political parties ."

PML-N leader Mushahid Hussain Syed said that his party was in contact with MMA, Awami National Party (ANP) and Qaumi Watan Party (QWP).
He told, "We have also spoken to Pashtunkhwa Milli Awami Party, Hasil Bizenjo and other parties."utside
Syed further said that they would decide as to how long the protest wound last, upon reaching othe ECP office.
Meanwhile, the Islamabad police have devised a security plan in view of the protest, under which only members of the Parliament were to be allowed to walk up to the ECP office.
Workers of political parties would not be allowed to enter into the Red Zone under the security plan.

 Component parties of the joint opposition  staged their first joint protest demonstration outside the Election Commission of Pakistan office today (Wednesday) against what they termed the blatant ‘rigged’ elections.
Central leaders of the component parties led the protest demonstration which according to them was peaceful. Leaders and candidates from these parties took part in a sit-in in front of the ECP office at 1 pm.

A member of the 16-member committee which had worked out the protest strategy of the joint opposition parties told South Punjab News that their protest remained peaceful and in this connection, they also be approached the federal capital administration seeking permission for the same.
