MULTAN,August 18th: Director General Trade Organisations (DGTO) Waqar Ahmed Shah has foiled an attempt of some unscrupulous elements to put hurdles in the process of election of Multan Chamber of Commerce & Industry (MCCI)for 2018-19 and asked the election Commission as well as Secretary General of Multan Chamber to hold the MCCI elections according to Trade Organisation rules and Trade Organisation act 2013 as per schedule. Sheikh Muhammad Naeem filed a writ petition No.11097/2018 in High Court Multan bench seeking suspension of election process in MCCI but the court did not grant interim injunction and directed the petitioner to appear before trade Union regulator on August 7 to get redress his grievances. After hearing both sides and scrutinising the record and evidences provided by the representatives of MCCI and the complainant. It was found that Sheikh Muhammad Naeem is not a bona fide member of MCCI and therefore cannot claim to have locus standi to file objections against the election process of MCCI.The complaint/appeal of Sheikh Muhammad Naeem was dismissed accordingly.
Another complainant Faisal Saeed  submitted a complaint through Zafar Iqbal Siddiqui and Rana Hamad moved to Director General Trade Organisations. After hearing the arguments of both side, the regulator declared that he was not eligible to cast his vote because he had niot completed his two year period which necessary for a valid voter as per Trade Organisation act 2013.He can exercise his right of vote if he renewed his members  before March 31.
Secretary General of Multan Chamber of Commerce & Industry (MCCI)Khurram Javed Butt contended that provisional voter lists were not only displayed on the notice board of Multan chamber but also uploaded on the website on July 21,2018. While election schedule was duly announced on July 2nd as per rule 14 of Trade Organisation rules,2013. He said that election process is going on as per Trade Organisation rules and Trade Organisation act 2013.He further said that all controversial entries were removed from the voter list to make the election free, fair and transparent.
