Dr Fehmida manages to win same general seat for 5th time

Former National Assembly speaker from March 2008 to June 2013, Dr Fehmida Mirza has become the first woman in the history of Pakistan to have been elected for a fifth consecutive time from the same general seat.
According to unofficial results, the GDA leader won NA-230 Badin by a narrow margin by bagging 96,875 votes against her rival from PPP, Haji Rasool Bux Chandio, who secured 96,015 votes.
She had been a member of the National Assembly of Pakistan, from 1997 to 1999 and again from 2002 to May 2018.
Mirza was born on 20 December 1956 in Karachi to Qazi Abdul Majeed Abid. She belongs to an influential political family of Sindh.
She joined Pakistan People's Party (PPP) in 1997, and was elected as the first female speaker of National Assembly in 2008.
She quit PPP in June 2018 and joined Grand Democratic Alliance.
