The People’s Unity of PIA on Wednesday held a pre-referendum rally from the Multan International Airport to PIA's city office to show its strength while Air League of PIA (sitting CBA union)could not hold any meeting or rally in Multan so far.
The rally was led by People’s Unity Multan President Syed Asad Bukhari,Jehangir Khan General Secretary ,Chairman Rana Fayyaz Ahmed and Jawad Umar .The participants were holding banners and placards inscribed with slogans in support of people's unity , PPP's leadership . They chanted slogans against the elements which had allegedly created havoc with the national carrier and passengers during last four years .
When the rally reached in front of residence of former Prime Minister Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani ,he and his son Ali Musa Gilani joined them.
The workers and office-bearers of the People’s Unity rallied peacefully all the way to the city terminal where Syed Asad Bukhari addressed the rally. He said that we would not let anyone sell the national carrier and to outsource its core sectors. He vowed that the People’s Unity had always worked for the best interest of the PIA and would continue doing so and would not let interest groups hijack the national flag carrier.
Leaders of People's Unity bitterly criticised the Pakistan International Airlines management which was fully supporting the Airleague of PIA which was using the CBA offices and other facilities in the country.They said that People's Unity would sweep the referendum at all stations like past.Participants were on motor cycles and other vehicles and carrying flags and banners.
