    Panama JIT submits final report with two boxes of ‘evidence’

    The Joint Investigation Team (JIT) tasked by the Supreme Court to probe the offshore properties of Sharif Family has submitted its final report before the three-member Special Bench of the apex court here on Monday.
    The JIT head Wajid Zia brought two big boxes of ‘evidence’ to be presented before the court. The JIT did not record the statement of key witness of Sharif Family, Qatari prince, after which the PML-N said that the PML-N will not accept the report without his testimony.When the JIT chief was asked whether he would seek extension from the SC, he nodded in negative.
    During the proceedings, Justice Ijaz ul Ahsan sought the progress on record tampering issue in the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) from the Attorney General on which the AG said the FIA has recommended to file a case against the SECP chief Zafar Hijazi.
    The judge then ordered to file the case against the SECP chief by today.

    The SC bench also disposed off the petition of Hussain Nawaz over picture leak and remarked that name of the responsible should be made public, however there is no need to form a commission on it. If the government is interested in forming the commission it can do so, the bench added.
    PML-N leaders’ speeches
    The Court also sought transcripts of all speeches made by Railways Minister Saad Rafique, PM's Special Assistant Asif Kirman and others in the last 60 days.
    All the parties –petitioners and respondents besides Attorney General—were also directed to get the copy of the report from registrar office.
    The court adjourned the hearing till July 17 and directed the petitioners and respondents to submit their respond in 7 days.
    Earlier in the day, the JIT members held a meeting at the Federal Judicial Academy and reviewed the final report of their investigation, presented before the court.

    Authorities concerned had issued red alert for Islamabad’s red Zone, where the apex court is located.
    Strict security arrangements were adopted in the light of JIT’s report submission. Additional contingents of police and Rangers were deployed both inside and outside the Supreme Court premises.
    Islamabad SSP security said around 500 police personnel were deployed for security duty in and around the court.
