Apex court rejected a petition filed by PM Nawaz Sharif’s son against two JIT members

The Supreme Court (SC) on Monday rejected a petition filed by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s son Hussain Nawaz against two members of the JIT tasked to probe the Sharif family’s offshore assets, according to Express News.

Earlier in the day, Hussain had moved a plea in the apex court, requesting to allow him to get assistance of his counsel during Panamagate case investigation by the Joint Investigation Team (JIT).
The move came a day after Hussain, who appeared before the JIT tasked to investigate the Sharif family’s offshore firms and properties, was not allowed assistance from his counsel during the probe.
The JIT, which comprises financial experts, investigators and representatives from intelligence agencies, reportedly grilled the premier’s son for less than an hour.
Hussain had already filed a five-page application with the top court in which he questioned impartiality of two JIT members and sought an appropriate action from the court over his allegations.
The PM’s son expressed reservations about Bilal Rasool, a representative of the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan, and Ahmer Aziz, a representative of the State Bank of Pakistan.
He is the second high-profile individual to have appeared before the probe body after PM’s cousin Tariq Shafi, who was thoroughly questioned by the JIT.
