MULTAN, Jan 25th: District & Session Judge Multan has traferred the case of social media starlet Qandeel Baloch to the court of Zaigham Abbas additionalsession judge from the court of Muhammad Saeed Raza today. Next hearing will be held on January 31,2017.The brother of social media starlet Qandeel Baloch,Muhammad Waseem who confessed to strangling his sister in a so-called “honour killing” and Haq-nawaz were produced before the court by the Police .The court granted extention to bail of Aslam Shaheen till January 31st. Model Qandeel Baloch, who shot to fame for her provocative selfies that polarised the country, was strangled in July by her brother Muhammad Waseem. He said she had brought shame on the family and confessed to his crime in a press conference after his arrest.The model was criticised by detractors who found her posts indecent, but fans praised her for daring to challenge social norms by appearing in videos that by Western standards would appear tame.Waseem was produced before a court in Multan on Wednesday along with his cousin Haq Nawaz whom police deemed to be an accomplice, and Abdul Basit, a taxi driver. Jam Salahuddin, the district prosecutor, said: “Six police witnesses have already recorded their statements .The further proceedings could not held as District and Session has ordered to shift this case to criminal (Faujdari) court. Earlier ,this casewas being heard by a civil court Her murder reignited calls for action against so-called “honour killings”, in which a victim is killed by a close relative — who can subsequently be pardoned by another family member under the law.
