FIA arrested three officials of Nadra for issuing national identity cards to foreigners during various raids in Balochistan

The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) arrested three officials of the National Database and Registration Authority (Nadra) for issuing national identity cards to foreigners during various raids in Balochistan on Friday.
"Nadra officers ranking from assistant director to deputy directors were arrested from Khanozai, Dalbandin and Mai Zai Addah area of Balochistan," FIA officials told Dawn.com.
The officers were shifted to FIA's regional headquarter for further interrogation.
The accused officials had issued more than three dozen Computerised National Identity Cards (CNIC) to foreigners, especially Afghan refugees, said officials.
More officers are likely to be arrested in issuance of cards to foreigners, officials added.
"CNICs have been issued to foreigners after receiving heavy payments by some elements of the authority," said Nadra officials
FIA launched a crack-down against the elements involved in issuing national identity cards to foreigners in Balochistan in the aftermath of Afghan Taliban Chief Mullah Akhtar Mansour's killing in an American drone strike this year.
The Taliban chief was issued a CNIC by Nadra in the name of Wali Mohammad from Killa Abdullah district, which borders with neighbouring Afghanistan.
