MULTAN, May 20th: Twenty people including a female Teacher Mst.Iqbal
Mai(40) of Kehror Pucca have so far been died of heat strike in Punjab province
during last 24 hours as temperature shot up to 49 degree celsius in different
cities, Secretary Health Punjab Jawad Rafique Malik told. He said ,We have been
receiving information from different districts about the victims of
heat-stroke.Hesaid that five people Sabira Bibi (60), Naveed (4) Manzoor Alias
Joora( 45)and Muhammad Ishaq and Qadeer have died in Okara district, Two people
died in Rahimyar Khan, One each died in Kotadu, Muzaffargarh, Kehror Pucca,
Bahawalnagar, Alipur,Dera GhaziKhan,Sahiwal, Khanewal, Vehari, Mailsi,Sadiqbad,
Multan and Muzaffargarh. Met office forecast three more hottest days in Punjab
province Particularly in South Punjab. Power load shedding added to the miseries
of the people. All roads and streets look deserted after 1100 am to 0600 pm.
Many students fell unconscious in different areas of Multan. Medical
Superintendent of Nishtar Hospital Multan Dr.Ashiq Malik said that many deaths
were reported in southern Punjab due to heat strike. People should not come out
of their homes/shelters without covering their heads and use maximum water to
save their lives. He said that heat related deaths are much lesser than India.
